Berriew FC 1st team finished the League campaign in 2nd place on 68 behind Llanrhaeadr. This is a great number of points and it is not very often that a team finds themselves achieving so many points and not being promoted. However, Neil Pryce (Ginge) the current manager of the 1st team reported he was pleased with the lads efforts, attitude and commitment throughout the season. It is hoped that the lads will stick together and fight to win the league next year. Ginge has agreed to continue with the managerial role for the forthcoming season.
Moreover, the 1st team have brought silverware back to Berriew this season and they should be congratulated on this. They defeated local rivals Montgomery Town 5-2 at Llanidloes to win the League Cup. A hatrick from Will Thomas and brace from Martyn Ziemann sealed the victory.
Further congratulations go to Will Thomas and Ian Probert. Will was the Spar Mid Wales division 1 top goal scorer and Ian Probert was awarded the league’s player of the season.
The 2010 - 2011 end of season awards were as follows:
Supporters Player of the Season – Ian Probert
Player Player of the Season – Ian Probert
Managers Player of the Season – Martyn Ziemann
The reserves fought a tough battle this season but mid-way through pulled together and pulled of some positive results. They finished their campaign 3rd from bottom which is alright considering the situations they found themselves in at the beginning of the season. Manager Darryl Jones commented that it is hoped the team moral will continue for next season as they maintain their place in the JT Hughes Amateur League.
This years end of season awards were as follows:
Players Player of the season – Sam Andrew
Managers Player of the Season – Sam Andrew
It is with much regret that both Hugh Evans and Darryl Jones have decided to step down as managers for the season ahead. On behalf of the club I would like to take the opportunity to sincerely thank them for their hard work this season. However, there replacement has been appointed; Mark Scott who played for the reserves last season is taking over the reins.
As yet, the Reserve fixtures have not been published, however it is certain that there will be a game on Berriew Show Evening; more information will be found on the club website at the beginning of August.
The Under 16’s have also done the club proud this season. They finished 4th overall in their league.
This year’s awards were presented as follows:
Top Scorer – Sam Ward
Players Player of the Season – Tom Francis
Player of the Season – Chris Winsor & Will Gittins
Managers Player of the Season – Matt Bumford

Please remember that you can become a member of Berriew FC website by visiting www.pitchero.com/clubs/berriew or by joining our facebook page. These sites are updated regularly and include information such as fixtures, results, league tables, match reports, pictures and lots of other information.
At present I am trying to develop our club website further and this means researching the clubs history. Therefore if anyone has any ‘pictures from the past’ of any once Berriew football team, please could I borrow them to get a copy to put on the website. There is already a good archive developing but more pictures would be great!! I promise that they will return to you in the same condition!!
Congratulations to James Langford and Sian Evans on the birth of their son Dylan Ellis Langford on behalf of Berriew FC but also to our chairman Delwyn and his wife Dawn on becoming grand-parents!!
