2015 EVENTS AT GREGYNOG

 

GREGYNOG WEDDING FAIR, Sunday 22nd February, 11-3pm

Meet your suppliers, explore the historic rooms in the Hall, try our Chef’s canapes. Imagine your special day taking place within the Hall and grade 1 listed gardens. Free of charge entry to the Hall.

 

WORLD BOOK DAY, Sunday 8th March, 12noon – 4pm

The library at Gregynog will be open today to coincide with World Book Day. Come and browse our extensive and eclectic book collection. There will also be an opportunity to see some of the rare examples of Gwasg Gregynog books on display.  Courtyard Café open for morning coffee, lunches and afternoon teas.  Free entry to the Hall today.

 

NGS OPENING FOR DAFFODIL DAY – Sunday 22nd March, 11-4pm

The grounds and garden open today in aid of the National Gardens Scheme.  Come along and enjoy a splash of spring colour.  Courtyard Café  open for lunches and afternoon teas. £3 admission for adults, £1 children. 

 

TOUR OF THE HALL, Easter Monday 6th April 2.30pm

Explore the Hall with our resident Librarian, Mary Oldham. £3/person. Advance booking recommended.

 

EASTER BUNNY TRAIL – Friday  3rd – Monday 6th April, 11-4pm

Come and enjoy this ever popular trail  which runs over the Easter weekend.  Lots of family friendly fun following our trail through woods and fields.  The biggest bunnies in Montgomeryshire will be making a return appearance.  Take a turn on the crazy golf.  Wear your Easter bonnets!  £3.50/participating child who receives an Easter gift.

 

GREGYNOG YOUNG MUSICIAN COMPETITION Saturday 18th April

A major competition for instrumentalists under the age of 18.  Free admission during the day to listen to the semi-final rounds.  The chosen finalists will compete for prize money and the Peter Garbettt-Edwards Trophy in an evening concert starting at 7pm. NGS GARDEN OPEN DAY – Sunday 7th June, 11-4pm

Explore the grounds and gardens today in aid of the National Garden Scheme. Bring your camera to capture the beauty of the azaleas and rhododendrons. Courtyard Café open for lunches and afternoon teas. £3 adults/£1 child.

 

AN EVENING OF SUMMER WINE TASTING, WITH TANNERS WINES – Friday 12th June – 7pm-10.30pm

A relaxed and fun evening in the Courtyard at Gregynog.  Come along and taste twelve wines perfect for summer drinking from our most prestigious local independent wine merchant. Wines purchased on the evening can be collected from Tanners Welshpool branch or delivered to your home. To complement the wines there will be snacks and canapes prepared by our Head Chef.  Be sure to book your tickets early for what is bound to be a popular event! £8 includes wine tasting/food.  B&B available if required.

 

GREGYNOG FESTIVAL, 7-28 June

Wales’ oldest classical music festival has a French theme in 2015. Events explore Gwendoline and Margaret Davies’ revolutionary tastes in art and music as well as the fascinating story of the Napoleonic prisoners of war in Wales and the Borders. DISCOVER THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF TREES AT GREGYNOG – with Tony Russell, lecture/lunch  £24.50. Sunday 5th July.

In aid of the Welsh Historic Gardens Trust. Meet for coffee @ 11am and enjoy an interesting talk given by renowned broadcaster and horticulturalist, Tony Russell. Enjoy a superb lunch in  followed by an opportunity for you to wander the gardens and grounds during the afternoon so please bring appropriate footwear. Tony will point out the most important or interesting trees and inform you on the best way to grow ornamentals in your own garden. £24.50/person and advance booking is highly recommended for what is sure to be a very popular event!

 

MID WALES OPERA GALA, 19TH July at 6pm

Join the Friends of Mid Wales Opera for a Gala concert featuring young professional soloists and Charlotte Forrest at the piano, with popular Seville based opera classics celebrating MWO’s new touring production of The Barber of Seville.  Bring a picnic to enjoy in the interval, tea/coffee available.  Tickets £16 from 01686 441027 or on the door.

CHAPTERHOUSE THEATRE COMPANY PRESENT ‘THE SECRET GARDEN’ Friday 14th August at 7pm

Open air theatre on the lawn.  We are pleased to welcome Chapterhouse Theatre Company once again to the grade 1 listed lawns at Gregynog. Bring your low backed chairs, picnics and rugs and enjoy their family friendly production of this classic tale by Frances Hodgson Burnett. Gardens open for picnics from 6pm. Bar/tea/coffee available. Adults £14/Students & Children £10/Families (2+2) £42. 10% discount for groups of 10+.

CHRISTMAS CONCERT BY GREGYNOG YOUNG MUSICIAN, 6th December @ 3pm

The perfect start to your Christmas festivities!  An afternoon concert of seasonal music with a return performance of the winner of the 2015 Gregynog Young Musician competition. £10 on the door to include tea and mince pies. Come early to ensure a good seat and enjoy the Hall’s festive decorations.

 

PANTOMIME : BEAUTY & THE BEAST, 13th December @ 1pm & 4pm.

Fame Factory return once again to delight and entertain our audience with their family friendly production of this classic tale. Wear your Christmas hats and jumpers and come along and join in the fun! Adults £10/Students & Children £7/Families (2+2) £29.  Two performances – early booking recommended!

 

SANTA’S GROTTO, 6 & 13 December, 11 – 3.30pm

Put on your Christmas hats and wellies and take the trail through the woods to see Santa in his woodland home.  Each participating child receives a gift and a hot chocolate, tickets £5.

 

 

 

 

 

 

NB: An Estate admission fee of £2.50/car parking charge applies for all daytime events.
